Caring for SolesUpdated 10 months ago

Prolong the Life of Pomar soles

By following these care tips, you can extend the life of your Pomar soles, especially our advanced winter GRIP+ soles. By following the tips below, you can help maintain their excellent traction and performance throughout the season. Regular maintenance, careful usage, and mindful walking habits are key to preserving the advanced features of our Pomar soles.

To ensure the longevity and performance of your Pomar soles, especially our GRIP+ soles, follow these sole care instructions:

  1. Proper Shoe Removal: Always use your hands to remove your boots. Avoid using your foot to push off the shoes, as this can weaken or separate the sole from the boot. Gentle removal helps maintain the bond between the sole and the upper.
  2. Designed For Winter Conditions: Pomar GRIP+ soles, with softer rubber compounds are tailored for winter use. While suitable for asphalt or concrete, prolonged usage on these hard surfaces can accelerate sole wear and reduce grip effectiveness. Optimal for snow, ice, and softer winter terrains.
  3. Prolong The Life of Your Pomar Spikes: Using spikes on hard surfaces can cause damage. While you may experience occasional loss of 1-2 spikes over time, this typically doesn't significantly impact grip performance.
  4. Alternate Footwear: Rotate between different pairs of winter shoes to prevent excessive wear on a single pair. This helps maintain the structural integrity and effectiveness of the soles.
  5. Match Shoes to Activities: Use the right shoes for the right conditions. For icy conditions, use shoes with spike soles. For general winter wear, use shoes with GRIP+ soles without spikes. This ensures you get the best performance from your footwear and prolongs their lifespan.
  6. Your Walking Style: Your walking style can impact the longevity of your soles. Stepping heavily on the heel or not lifting your feet fully can cause premature wear, especially on hard surfaces.
  7. Avoid Direct Heat: Do not expose your shoes to direct heat sources such as radiators, heaters, or hairdryers. High temperatures can weaken the cement (glue), causing the sole to separate from the shoe. Direct heat can also degrade the rubber compounds in the soles. Always allow your shoes to air dry at room temperature
  8. Clean Regularly: After each use, especially in snowy or muddy conditions, clean your soles to remove dirt, salt, and loose debris. Use a soft brush to gently scrub the soles, then let them air dry naturally.
  9. Proper Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and damp areas. Extreme conditions can affect both the soles and the shoe uppers, leading to premature wear.
